Buy this rare 2008 Australian gold bullion coin. Very limited supplies.

This dazzling 2008, five-piece, gold bullion coin set is the last in a three-year series, beginning in 2006, called “Discover Australia”, from the Perth Mint. Meticulous in detail and breathtaking in beauty, each legal tender coin is minted in ½-ounce 99.99% fine gold, with a face value of $50 and is in Proof condition. With such a low mintage of only 1,000 worldwide, finding each coin by itself would be a daunting task, but now they are being offered in this fabulous five-piece set. This exceptional gold bullion coin set is encapsulated in a luxurious presentation case, with an authentic Tasmanian oak lid, which is a tree from the eucalyptus species native to Australia. You will also receive a Certificate of Authenticity, with the matching serial number, for each coin.

Entirely owned by the State Government of Western Australia since July 1970, the Perth Mint opened in 1899 and was Australia’s third branch of Britain’s Royal Mint. The other two branches, the Sydney Mint and the Melbourne Mint are both closed. The Perth Mint is the official producer of the Australian Federal Government’s Silver and Gold Bullion Coin Program. The Discover Australia series portrays a variety of bush creatures, marsupials and other animals that are highly symbolic of the nation and easily recognizable. The reverse of all the Australian gold coins in the series is of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, facing right in a crowned profile, as portrayed by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. The denomination and the legend “Elizabeth II” also appear.

One of the best known marine mammals is the bottlenose dolphin, which is found in warm waters. On the obverse of one of the coins, two bottlenose dolphins frolic in the warm waters found off Australia’s coast. The mint mark “P” is hidden in the waves surrounding the larger of the two dolphins, on the right. The date of issue is located below the fun-loving pair. The legend “Discover Australia” surrounds the top, while “dolphin”, the weight and purity surround the bottom. On the obverse of the other four coins are depicted charming, one-year-only images of the King Brown Snake, Brolga, Dingo and Frilled Neck Lizard.  This magnificent 2008 Discover Australia 1/2 –ounce 5-piece set would be a fantastic gold coin investment, as well as an exquisite addition to any collection that would be cherished for many years to come!

What Are American Eagle Coins?

Buy American Eagle coins here at exceptional prices.

American Eagle coins, as the name implies, are coins minted by the United States government that have patriotic images of eagles on them. They come in three compositions (silver, gold, and platinum) and each composition has various weight and face values. The advantage of these coins is that they are certified by one of the largest governments around, thus ensuring that you’re receiving a top quality product that truly contains the amount of precious metal for which you’ve paid. Indeed, these coins retain their value very well, not just because of the certification by the U.S. government, but also due to the standards by which they are produced.

The U.S. mint produces both gold bullion coins and proof coins. Proof coins have very rigorous standards of production. Coin blanks are manually fed to presses containing special dies. These metal blanks are struck a few times ensuring that the softly frosted, but quite detailed depictions float above a mirror-like face. Each of these newly minted American Eagle coins is then inspected by government officials, sealed in plastic, and then placed in a velvet presentation case with a unique certificate of authenticity. It’s worth noting, however, that bullion coins are aimed at the investor market and, as such, the standards by which they are produced are less than the proof variants, although these coins certainly look astounding. Regardless, buying these coins ensures that you are getting a truly quality product.

With the uncertainty in the stock market and general economic malaise, it’s never a bad idea to diversify your investments by including some precious metals. American Eagle coins represent a good opportunity to give your portfolio a little downside protection. Indeed, it is often the case that in times of a shaky economy, investors flock to precious metals because of the safe-haven it provides. However, investing in these coins not only gives you the bullion value, but also the expert craftsmanship of a true collectors item. This all but ensures a solid value - even in the most uncertain of times.
